Snow inspired Christmas nail art and wraps!
Good evening everyone, I hope everyone is enjoying the snow. I thought as it was snowing for once in England, I would do a snow inspired Christmas nail art today. I also really wanted to try out the nail art wraps that I picked up and spoke about in my last post from Charlie's nail art.
I chose to use a snowman and penguin water decal nail art wrap, that i used on my ring and little finger pairing it with a silver polish as my background with the snow falling down.
Products I used today were the Christmas snowman and penguin nail art water decal wraps from Charlie's nail art, Ciate silver polish called ' fit for a queen', Nails inc white polish for the snow called 'floral street, dotting tools, Nails inc kensington base coat and Seche Vite top coat.
I started of by doing the water decal wraps first as I was intrigued to try them, I was glad I did as they were pretty fiddly to do, so I would recommend doing the wraps before painting with the polish. I have used nail art wraps in the past but never used water ones and I will just say if you have never used them before you may find them a bit hard to do but once you get the hang of it, it's defintley worth it. They are pretty simple to do it's just getting it on the nail and placing them down which is the fiddly bit.
For these you first remove the protective sheet, then cut out your chosen design and pop it into some water for around 20-30 seconds until the decal slides off the backing paper. Then gently place the decal on the nail, smooth down and remove any excess water with a paper towel and allow to dry for a few seconds. Remove any excess from the edges with nail polish remover and then I applied my topcoat over them.
After doing the 2 water decal nails, I then went on and done the other 3 fingers by first applying the base coat and then 2 coats of the silver polish. I waited for that to dry for a bit then went on to do the snow. I started of by doing the snow on the free edge of the nail like a french manicure but with this doing it a bit uneven as to show where the snow has fell. Then with my dotting tool I done the little dots to create the snow falling down.
This look was quite time consuming but I enjoyed doing it and seeing it all coming together nicely. I do really like the water decal wraps and how they look but my only issue was that the snowman wasn't quite wide enough for my nail, so didn't quite cover it but then again my nails are pretty big. Other then that they did go on rather smoothly only a little bit bumpy in the cuticle bit of the nail. But I would recommend them if you love trying out different nail art looks as they create fun nails.
What's your favourite bit of this nail art look? I love penguins, so I do love the penguin water decal wrap as it is skiing down the slope and just looks so cute.
